Dog Star Audio was started by Gene Hobson and Gloria Gunn
in 1997.
Their goal is to remain a small, "boutique"-style
facility that is truly state-of -the-art,
while utilizing their unique talent
and experience.
GENE
HOBSON, owner, chief editor/mixer, consultant geneh@dogstaraudio.com
Gene has more than 30 years experience in all aspects of Film, Television, and Music recording, editing and mixing. Attempting to list all of his projects and credits here would simply be impossible. From his early days as a Music mixer/engineer, through Film/TV production, and post-production, Gene has "done it all", and has become known in the industry as a most knowledgeable and talented problem solver. Many of our clients routinely call on Gene for answers when no one else can get the job done. He has trained and mentored some of the best talent around, and continues to do so today.
GLORIA
GUNN co-owner, operations gg@dogstaraudio.com
Gloria has over 40 years experience in Radio, Film and Television. She began her carrier as a child actress and voice talent, shifted focus to production, learning about the business from the ground up, before finally settling into Post Production. She was a freelance picture and sound editor at Lucas Film, Universal, and Paramount as well as several independent production companies, and later Post-Production Supervisor for MTM, where she was responsible for all phases of post on such classic shows as HILL STREET BLUES, ST. ELSEWHERE, NEWHART, and REMINGTON STEELE.

STEVEN "NANOOK" BURKHOLDER editor, mixer nanook@dogstaraudio.com
Nanook is our most recent addition to the Dog Star Team. (We don't even want to know how he got that nickname!) With a BA from Cal Arts, Nanook is a well-rounded and experienced "sound guy". Fortunately for us, he decided to immerse himself full-time into the world of digital audio, and most specifically, digital sound editorial. Accompanying his smiling face is a very bright mind. Nanook truly embodies the spirit of perfectionism that is a part of the Dog Star mantra.
ROB
CRANER editor, mixer robc@dogstaraudio.com
Finding his parents reel-to-reel and turntable irresistible as a kid, ("I enjoyed mechanical and electrical things that make music or noise" he says), Rob satisfied this passion by channeling his talent and energy into music and sound. After obtaining his Bachelors Degree, he worked as a sound engineer, and later moved into Music mixing and digital mastering. Aside from being a top-notch editor, Rob's major talent, which we utilize to the fullest extent possible here at Dog Star, is "figuring things out".
EMILY
GUNN HOBSON video
editor, DVD authoring mummyphan@sbcglobal.net
Emily was born on a movie studio lot, where she spent the first several years of her life. A natural! A true film aficionado, Emily started out as an assistant, and quickly became our "ace" editor and DVD authoring "Guru". In numerous projects, she has shown a remarkable ability to make the impossible seem downright easy. She is also currently a film student at California State University, Northridge.
